Dr. Purvi Zavery always knew she wanted to be a pediatric dentist. So after earning her Doctorate of Dental Surgery from University of the Pacific School of Dentistry (where she was awarded the Drs. Charles, Charles Jr., and Joe Sweet Award for Excellence in Pediatric Dentistry), her passion for children led her to complete a three-year pediatric dental residency at the prestigious University of California San Francisco, where she studied and practiced optimal ways to treat the dental needs of children.
During her residency, she continued her education and received a master’s in oral and craniofacial sciences. As part of the residency program at UCSF, Dr. Purvi affiliated with Children’s Hospital Medical Center, Oakland, which provided her with wealth of experience in treating pediatric dental trauma in the emergency department as well as treating children with special healthcare needs.
Dr. Purvi has been providing dental care to children for more than ten years. For the past few years she has been associating with a private pediatric dental practice in San Jose. Dr. Purvi decided to open her own pediatric dental office in San Carlos so she could be closer to home and provide dental care to the children in the area where she lives.
Each year, Dr. Purvi continues to study advances in pediatric dentistry, especially in the areas of child behavior management. But most important, she takes the time to get to know each child personally, and communicates with parents and children to create a lifetime of healthy dental habits.
As part of her continuing efforts to advance the field of pediatric dentistry, Dr. Purvi was the founding member of the UCSF Pediatric Dentistry Alumni Association. She currently serves as the treasurer of the UCSF Pediatric Dentist Alumni Association, which seeks to bring together all the pediatric dentistry experts from UCSF to share ideas and advances in this field.
Dr. Purvi is an active member of the American Dental Association, California Dental Association, American Academy of Pediatric Dentists, San Mateo County Dental Society, and Santa Clara County Dental Society.
Dr. Purvi currently lives with her husband and two daughters on the Peninsula. She has been a resident of the Bay Area for the last 20 years. Prior to moving to this area, she lived and practiced dentistry in Mumbai, one of the largest cities in India. She now regards the Bay Area as home and loves the great weather and the natural beauty of the region.
In her spare time, Dr. Purvi enjoys reading, traveling, playing any sport, and watching movies. She has recently taken up volleyball on the weekends and hopes to keep improving her skills.
