Dr Purvi Zavery

Dr Purvi Zavery

Dr. Purvi Zavery is a unique kind of dentist.  With her kid-oriented style and fun personality, Dr. Purvi gets children excited about dental care, helping them to develop healthy habits that will last a lifetime.

Dr. Purvi always knew that she wanted to be a pediatric dentist.  So after earning her doctorate from University of the Pacific School of Dentistry (where she was awarded the Charles, Charles Jr. and Joe Sweet award for Excellence in Pediatric Dentistry), her passion for children led her to complete a three-year pediatric dental residency at the prestigious University of California San Francisco (UCSF) where she studied and practiced optimal ways to treat the dental needs of children. During her residency, she continued her education and also received a Masters in Oral and Craniofacial Sciences. As part of the residency program at UCSF, Dr. Purvi also affiliated with Children’s Hospital Medical Center, Oakland, providing her with wealth of experience in treating pediatric dental trauma in the emergency department as well as treating children with special health care needs.

Dr. Purvi has been providing dental care to children for more than 10 years and for the past few years has been associating with a private pediatric dental practice in San Jose.  Dr. Purvi decided to open her own pediatric dental office in San Carlos so that she could be close to home and to also provide dental care to the children in the area she lives.

Each year, Dr. Purvi continues to study advances in Pediatric Dentistry, especially in the areas of child behavior management.  But most importantly, she takes the time to get to know each child personally, communicating with parents and children to create a lifetime of healthy dental habits.

As part of her continued effort to advance the field of pediatric dentistry, Dr. Purvi was the founding member of the UCSF Pediatric Dentistry Alumni Association.  She currently serves as the Treasurer of the UCSF Pediatric Dentist Alumni Association trying to bring together all the pediatric dentistry experts from UCSF to share ideas and advances in this field.

Dr. Purvi also is an active member of the American Dental Association (ADA), California Dental Association (CDA), American Academy of Pediatric Dentists (AAPD), San Mateo County Dental Society (SMCDS) and Santa Clara County Dental Society (SCCDS).

Dr. Purvi currently lives with her husband and two daughters (Sanaa is 7 years old and Ashna is 2 years old) on the Peninsula.  She has been a resident of the Bay Area for the last 12 years. Prior to moving to the Bay Area, she used to live and practice dentistry in Mumbai, one of the largest cities in India.  She now considers Bay Area as home and loves the great weather and the natural beauty of the region.  In her spare time, Dr. Purvi enjoys reading, traveling, playing any sport and watching movies.  She has recently taken up playing volleyball on the weekends and hopes to keep improving her skills.
